Dragonfly Dancerz
Arianne and Julianna are twin sisters of the Northern Cheyenne Nation of southeastern Montana, a beautiful land shared by human, plant and animal relatives— among them, dragonflies. Growing up, their family taught them that dragonflies are ancestors coming to check in and let us know they’re with us in whatever we do, they’re recognized as spiritual messengers.
In Cheyenne, dragonflies are called hevovetāso, which translates to “whirlwind,” reflecting their speed, strength, and agility. All four wings on a dragonfly work independently, allowing them to move forward, backward, sideways, and even hover. With a 98% success rate in hunting, dragonflies are some of the most skilled predators and fliers in the world.
Traditionally, dragonflies were painted on war horses, beaded into jewelry, and painted onto clothing to symbolize their agility, power, and protection.
The Dragonfly Dancerz hope this Flowstar holds as much meaning to our community as it does to us. Flowstar has opened a portal to what is possible when gratitude and kindness are at the heart of the mission. This journey has given us a platform to fully express who we are, to celebrate uniqueness, and to move in rhythm with a community that uplifts and empowers. Finding flow and flow state is a spiritual experience that connects us to resilience, joy, transformation and the medicine of movement. Flow has been a source of deep inspiration and a powerful reminder of how growth—both individual and collective— can make the world a better place.
We hope the energy of dragonflies carry into your own flow- guiding you, grounding you and lifting you. Thank you to each and every one of you that has supported us along the way at any moment in our journey! We love you. Happy Flowing. 🖤
